MOON HONEY BETTA FISH

'Betta Fish' by L.A. duo Moon Honey is one of the wildest tracks we've heard for a long time. Bordering on impossible to describe the 5-minute epic and live favourite of the band is a seamless patchwork of ideas and potential influences touching on everything from the rampant garage rock of Thee Oh Sees to the whimsical indie of Dirty Projectors and the stomping beat of the recently disbanded Bristol outfit Zun Zun Egui. Lead by singer Jess Joy's theatrical vocal performance, the sheer eccentricity of the track is a testament to Joy and Martin's songwriting abilities, taking the listener on a kaleidoscopic sonic roller coaster of texture with ease. As the first track to emerge from the band’s sessions with renowned producer John Goodmanson (Blonde Redhead, Sleater-Kinney, Death Cab for Cutie) it's safe to say we're excited to hear more. -HLMX
